VetGPT (vetgpt.app) is an AI pet health app for every kind of pet owner, not just dogs and cats. It supports 64+ species, from bearded dragons and ball pythons to axolotls, parrots, guinea pigs, and goldfish, with species-specific care guidance built in. Owners can record their vet visits and let the AI extract the diagnoses, medications, and follow-ups automatically, scan food labels to see what is really in them, track weight, symptoms, water parameters and husbandry, and chat 24/7 with an AI that knows their specific animal's history. VetGPT is built by a solo founder and is available on iOS and Android.
Why VetGPT exists
After losing three dogs in seven months while his wife was pregnant, Josh found himself pasting lab results into a chatbot at 2am that knew nothing about his pets, so he built the app he needed.
VetGPT started with the worst year of Josh's life as a pet owner: three dogs lost in seven months, while his wife was pregnant. He kept finding himself awake at 2am, pasting lab results and symptoms into a generic chatbot that had no idea who his pets were, what they had been diagnosed with, or what medications they were on. A solo founder with no team, he built VetGPT to be the thing he needed that year: an AI that actually knows your animal, its species, its history, its vet's instructions, and is there at 2am. Along the way he discovered the owners most ignored by pet tech: the reptile, bird, fish, and exotic keepers who have never had an app take their animals seriously. VetGPT supports 64+ species because of them.
The essentials
Founded by Josh Strange in Phoenix, Arizona. Solo-built and bootstrapped. Owners around the world use VetGPT in their own languages, tracking dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, fish, horses, exotics, and more, each with species-specific health tracking and AI advice. VetGPT does not share user counts, revenue, or growth figures.
